Children and Young People’s Support Worker

Location: North Norfolk

Contract: Permanent, Full Time 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £26,000 to £28,000 per annum

Not For Profit People are recruiting on behalf of a specialist charity supporting children, young people and families affected by domestic abuse.

We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Children and Young People’s Support Worker to join a dedicated team delivering vital support services across North Norfolk.

This is a hybrid role, combining home working with community-based support, including regular visits to schools and other settings across North Norfolk. Travel is required throughout the region, and mileage expenses will be reimbursed.

About the Role

As a Children and Young People’s Support Worker, you will provide confidential, non-judgemental support to children and young people who have experienced, or are living with, domestic abuse. You will work directly with young people and their families, helping them access the support they need to improve their wellbeing, resilience and safety.

The role involves managing your own caseload, undertaking assessments, developing support plans, maintaining accurate records and working closely with partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.

You will play an important role in safeguarding vulnerable children, promoting their welfare and ensuring they receive timely, person-centred support.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one support to children and young people across North Norfolk.
• Manage a caseload and arrange appointments in line with service standards.
• Complete assessments and identify appropriate support options.
• Build positive, professional relationships with children, young people and their families.
• Work in partnership with schools and external agencies to support the wellbeing and safety of young people.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and undertake risk assessments where required.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records using a secure client database.
• Attend team meetings, supervision sessions and training opportunities.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Essential experience of working directly with children and young people.
• Experience supporting vulnerable children and young people in a professional setting.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection legislation, policies and best practice.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to manage your own workload and work independently.
• Experience working collaboratively with partner agencies and professionals.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Outlook.
• A full driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Experience supporting children and young people affected by domestic abuse or other forms of trauma would be advantageous.

This role involves working directly with children and young people and is subject to an Enhanced DBS check, including checks against the Children's Barred List where applicable.
