Director of Digital Innovation & Impact
We are supporting a global NGO that empowers and champions the rights of consumers to recruit a Director of Digital Innovation & Impact to build and lead a new global programme focused on digital consumer rights.
Position: Director of Digital Innovation & Impact
Location: Fully Remote
Hours: Full Time
Salary: Circa £75,000 per annum - Up to £90k on a consulting contract
Contract: Permanent (or consulting contract)
About the role:
The Director of Digital Innovation & Impact will build and define the new digital consumer rights programme which may include consumer issues such as e-commerce and virtual economies, data governance, consumer digital harms and more. The role will aim to engage with and support the charities Members and partner organisations around the world. They will also represent the organisation on a global stage and contribute to the growth of its sustainable business model in a leadership role.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Develop and implement a new strategy on digital rights
- Develop innovative, original insight with external stakeholders to identify new issues for consumers
- Provide new perspectives on consumers in the digital economy
- Design, develop and deliver impactful and innovative programmes and projects
- Represent the Charity at global forums on digital rights
- Build and sustain diverse revenue streams for global digital rights projects and programmes
- Develop relationships with potential funders around opportunities for impact on digital rights for consumers
- Source project and programme funding and resources
- Build task forces and diverse groups to advise and drive programmes and projects
- Identify and engage leading global experts
- Engage the Charity’s wider membership in the Digital Change Agenda so that they recognise its relevance
- to their work and feel engaged in its delivery
About you:
Some essential skills and experience you will need include:
- Exceptional insight generation with an understanding of digital technologies, policy development and system change
- Experience of converting complex insights into powerful key messages, partnerships and programmes
- Track record of building stakeholder relationships internally and externally, ideally in a global context
- Programme management with complex global projects
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience in fundraising and partnerships
- Strong people management skills to manage, motivate and empower staff to achieve their full potential.
- The ability to think globally and engage an international cross-sector audience and build strategic partnerships
- Excellent written / verbal communication skills
- Can communicate at the right pitch with a variety of audiences including senior stakeholders
- Can seek creative and innovative ways to address perceived barriers and problems and adopt a solution-focused approach
- Self-starter with can-do attitude, proactively proposing new ideas in support of our strategy and continuous improvement.
- Enjoys building out new ideas and entrepreneurial environment
- Knowledge and passion for global consumer rights and protection; expert knowledge of digital technologies and their impact on consumers
- Able to travel globally
