Applying for - Treasurer
Treasurer (Trustee) – Miscarriage Support (MISS)
Location: Remote (UK-wide)
Time commitment: Approx. 5 hours per month + 8 online Board meetings per year
About the role
Miscarriage Support (MISS) is seeking a dedicated and financially skilled individual to join our Board of Trustees as Treasurer. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference by supporting a compassionate organisation and helping to ensure its financial sustainability and future growth.
Our current Treasurer is stepping down, and we are recruiting a successor who will play a vital role in guiding our financial governance. A comprehensive handover will be provided to ensure a smooth transition.
This is a strategic role focused on oversight and advisory responsibilities rather than day-to-day bookkeeping, making it ideal for someone keen to apply their financial expertise in a flexible, impactful way.
What you’ll be doing
As Treasurer, you will provide financial insight and oversight to support the charity’s mission and long-term success. Key responsibilities include:
- Advising the Board on financial strategy, sustainability and risk management
- Supporting the development of budgets, forecasts and financial plans
- Ensuring strong financial controls, governance and compliance are in place
- Overseeing financial reporting, including annual accounts and regulatory submissions
- Communicating financial information clearly to Trustees and supporting informed decision-making
- Working collaboratively with the Chair, CEO and Board to strengthen financial understanding
About you
We are looking for someone with a passion for making a difference and a strong financial background. You don’t need previous trustee experience, but you will bring:
Essential skills:
- Strong financial literacy, including experience with budgeting, reporting and cash flow
- Understanding of financial governance, risk and compliance
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial audiences
- A strategic mindset with the ability to advise on financial implications
- Integrity, good judgement and a collaborative approach
Desirable:
- Experience in the charity or non-profit sector
- Knowledge of charity finance or governance
- Qualified accountant or senior-level financial management experience
What difference you’ll make
As Treasurer, you will play a central role in shaping the future of MISS. Your expertise will help ensure that our finances are robust, transparent and sustainable, enabling us to continue delivering vital support to those affected by miscarriage.
You will join a supportive and committed Board, with the opportunity to influence strategy, strengthen governance and contribute to meaningful, lasting impact.
Why join us?
- Flexible, remote volunteer role
- Opportunity to use your skills for social good
- Supportive onboarding and handover from the current Treasurer
- Be part of a passionate and impactful charity
